BIRDS OF SNOW

This morning we woke up to a little snow in Missouri
 - this of course is nothing like Colorado and
why would I even mention it?  The snow plow
has been by at least three times.  Can you imagine that?
Never on the sides streets in Colorado
even with three feet of snow.

I have been watching the birds come to the feeders
and spotted nine female cardinals in the
pussy willow out front.  Only one male.

This picture - taken through the window
as they all were:

Staying in today!

  1. Hi Bernideen, your garden looks so pretty with the white snow cover! Loved to see the photos of the cardinals.
As much as I like the look of snow, I don't like the cold so I would be staying in for sure as well :-)!
    Warm regards,
    Christina

  2. A winter garden has a beauty all its own and yours does look lovely Bernideen. I'm thinking your male cardinal must have a harem - lucky guy!
It's so cold here the birds are constantly at the black oil sunflower seed feeder to create energy and warmth.
I, on the other hand just finished cleaning and plan to enjoy the snow from inside by settling in with a cup of tea and a good book.

  6. Your garden looks so lovely in the snow! And I'm jealous of all the cardinals that visit your feeders - I miss my cardinal couple that were around frequently last year, I'm not sure where they went! Happy New Year!!

  8. I'd be staying in, too. We are very lucky indeed if we ever see a snow plow in our neighborhood.

  9. Gardens can be beautiful cover in winter white and the romantic feel it gives. All our snow is gone and I'm hoping more come back soon. Our Ginger also LOVES the snow and we have a hard time getting her back in. The Cardinals stand out so in the snow and love them in our garden too.

  10. They didn't plow the side streets in Colorado? Why ever not? I'd be happier in Missouri. ❄️ Your garden wears white beautifully.

  11. Very pretty! I love watching the birds from inside a warm house. Cardinals are my favorite, but none in Oregon. I will enjoy seeing yours.

  12. I don't wonder you are staying in, Bernideen. Your wintry wonderland though a little chilly looks so pretty and those Cardinals add a pretty flash of colour.

  13. Good morning Bernideen! Isn't the Missouri snow just wonderful! I'm always glad to get anything! If the snowplows aren't out on the side streets people complain, kind of wimpy around here. :) I'm still trying to get birds in my backyard, I even bought a feeder and all sunflower seeds, not a mix and they still don't come. What's up with that? I do have three cute little wrens that cram into the little house hanging under my front porch though.
    Have a great day!
