After looking around for something different to go over the bed in the master bedroom, I recently found a shutter decoration for the wall and added some more shabby chic
chalk paint to it

As you can see - it was nighttime out when I took these pictures last night. We got home late from dinner with our son and suddenly I remembered this party. Our master bedroom is a modest size. I do wish you could see it in the daytime - there is a peach tree outside the window with peaches overlooking the Koi pond.
An antique dresser:
A family picture from many years ago:
There was teal in the bedspread so I have
put some of that color in the room too.
My husband's Mother gave us this little table by the window:
The hand crochet coverlet was my $4.00 bargain at an Estate Sale:
I know you recognize the pillows I made
from old linens and burlap:
I have had the teal matted Godey print for years but recently got the oval one below a booth at Midway and the other small square one at an Estate Sale here in Columbia:

Here in Missouri there are ceiling fans
in almost every room because it gets hot!
Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteLove the shutters! But what really caught my eye was the seating area near the window!! Beautiful!!
Thanks for hosting each week and thanks for your visits!!
Hugs,
Deb
Oh, I love the shutters and your coverlet, Bernideen! You have some really wonderful pieces in the room. I like the white trunk at the foot of the bed too. Lovely! Thanks for sharing and hosting.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Your bedroom is beautiful! Lovely antiques!
ReplyDeleteI think your whole home is just beautiful!
Your bedroom is lovely and thanks for the party!
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is gorgeous !!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a restful, beautifully-appointed, welcoming retreat!
ReplyDeleteMy special favorites are the charming escritoire in the corner, just awaiting the "morning post," and that small fragile etagere filled with special treasures---what I think of as "Property of a Lady," with all the lovely items to hand. Of course, the plume-stoppered perfume bottles have been one of my lifelong covets, as well, for I was struck by the elegant application of perfume to earlobes and wrists in movie scenes of ladies dressing in their boudoirs.
What a lovely room.

I so cracked up with the "SHUDDERS" title...
ReplyDeleteI still haven't finished our bedroom. And the light of evening is how we see our bedrooms anyway. Warm and a bit romantic...daylight and bedrooms seldom go together. Though, I often spend 10-15 minutes watching the birds in early morning..while I straighten up the bedroom. Very pretty ...and I love the peachy cast of the light. Sandi
You have a beautiful master bedroom. I love the shutters and the bed cover go very nice together. You have a wonderful view also. Thanks for hosting another great party.

ReplyDeleteBernideen, it's a beautiful room with an equally beautiful view! Love your shutters. And I would love to take that broken-pediment-topped secretary off your hands!
ReplyDeleteOoh I love the shutters, Bernideen! I still cannot believe what a great bargain you found in that crocheted coverlet @ $4.00!!!! Your bedroom looks so pretty and what a wonderful view you have from your windows. We have ceiling fans in every room here in Texas, too. It's a necessity! Thanks so much for hosting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bedroom, pretty and romantic.
ReplyDeleteLove the table and chairs and the shutter in your bedroom. I have a similar table that wasn't in very good shape, so finally convinced my "live-in gardener" to paint it white. He likes keeping everything wood colored.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Bernideen! I'm loving your secretary desk, white chest at the foot of the bed, and the pair of chairs by your window. I have a weakness for secretary or drop down desks and have three at my place (1 on each floor). Thank you for hosting and have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen. :)
ReplyDeleteYour indoor decorating is so pretty. The crochet coverlet is amazing! $4.00? Way to go!!
I'm loving your yard and pond too. We put waterlilies in ours a couple of weeks ago and they are blooming away. Sure makes it pretty.
Lovely room and I totally love the back yard! Thanks for sharing with us all :)
ReplyDeleteYour bedroom is beautiful, Bernideen....Christine
ReplyDeleteHi: Your home is beautiful. Love the Godey prints. I collect them too. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteI continue to be in awe with your decorating talents. I love how you arranged the bedroom and each piece has meaning and tells a story. It must be so wonderful to wake up in the morning and see that beautiful peach tree.
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I didn't link up to your Friday Tea in the Garden. I have just been so busy and finding time to go on the computer is such a challenge now. I do hope to contribute to the special Friday garden party this week. I love your bedroom decor and the table from your hubby's mother is so lovely. The oval picture from Gina's shop is beautiful. I have some Victorian pictures too - so my taste. Your new home looks complete inside and out. What will you do now? Maybe you can relax and have a cup of tea. Lol. Thank you for hosting B.T.T.C.G. See you Friday! Blessings, Karen
Your bedroom is beautiful, Bernideen. I love all personal touches. Those blue chairs are lovely; how wonderful to be able to sit there and look upon the garden and perhaps enjoy a cup of tea in one of your gorgeous tea cups. The cushions you stitched look perfect on the bed and the shutter looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOh, Bernideen - I just love your home- and how you are decorating it - looks wonderful! That is a GORGEOUS view from your bedroom window- too - how serene and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks for hosting such a wonderful party. Enjoy your features, too. There are some truly fine bloggers out there to be sure. Hugs. ♥
Bernideen, thank you for hosting and I am so in awe of you and the progress you have made after living such a short time in your cottage. Everything, inside and out, is just beautiful..Have a wonderful rest of the week..xo Judy

ReplyDeleteOh your home is looking just so perfect! How fun to move and have everything as you wish for your retirement years. You are blessed to be able to do that. I linked up to you on my blog but was so tired, I forgot to post my picture on your blog! Gosh...too much heat and babysitting and caregiving. I am thankful for some cooler weather here in Oregon.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at SYC! Jo
ReplyDeleteYou are settling into your new home very nicely. I think the view from your bedroom window makes up for its modest size. Although, it can't be too small as there is room for a setting area. Your shutter adds dimension and interest to the room. Kindest regards, Jill
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, relaxing space. The shutters look great as a focal point above your bed, and the view out the windows looking down on your garden is an added treat. Don't know when you started this party. I've obviously been out of touch. I will remember it and link next week. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBernideen, I love the old shutter. The crochet coverlet for the small table hits just the right note to me. I really like the quilt on your bed with with matching pillows. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteI'm having bedroom envy dearest friend! Your bedroom looks gorgeous and I love that romantic seating area by the window, it is just so relaxing and serene. All your bed linen is marvelous too.
