SHUTTERS IN THE MASTER BEDROOM

After looking around for something different to go over the bed in the master bedroom, I recently found a shutter decoration for the wall and added some more shabby chic
 chalk paint to it
for a more rustic look:

As you can see - it was nighttime out when I took these pictures last night.  We got home late from dinner with our son and suddenly I remembered this party.  Our master bedroom is a modest size. I do wish you could see it in the daytime - there is a peach tree outside the window with peaches overlooking the Koi pond.

An antique dresser:

A family picture from many years ago:

There was teal in the bedspread so I have
put some of that color in the room too.

My husband's Mother gave us this little table by the window:

The hand crochet coverlet was my $4.00 bargain at an Estate Sale:

I know you recognize the pillows I made
 from old linens and burlap:

I have had the teal matted Godey print for years but recently got the oval one below a booth at Midway and the other small square one at an Estate Sale here in Columbia:

Vintage items:

Here in Missouri there are ceiling fans
in almost every room because it gets hot!

I was able to catch a quick view out the
 window early this morning too:

And how it looks outside - the top
 right windows
are the bedroom looking out:

Photo taken from the deck looking down:

And out front after the Pussy Willow was pruned:

  6. What a restful, beautifully-appointed, welcoming retreat!

My special favorites are the charming escritoire in the corner, just awaiting the "morning post," and that small fragile etagere filled with special treasures---what I think of as "Property of a Lady," with all the lovely items to hand. Of course, the plume-stoppered perfume bottles have been one of my lifelong covets, as well, for I was struck by the elegant application of perfume to earlobes and wrists in movie scenes of ladies dressing in their boudoirs.

    What a lovely room.

  7. I so cracked up with the "SHUDDERS" title...

I still haven't finished our bedroom. And the light of evening is how we see our bedrooms anyway. Warm and a bit romantic...daylight and bedrooms seldom go together. Though, I often spend 10-15 minutes watching the birds in early morning..while I straighten up the bedroom. Very pretty ...and I love the peachy cast of the light. Sandi

  14. Love the table and chairs and the shutter in your bedroom. I have a similar table that wasn't in very good shape, so finally convinced my "live-in gardener" to paint it white. He likes keeping everything wood colored.

  15. Very nice, Bernideen! I'm loving your secretary desk, white chest at the foot of the bed, and the pair of chairs by your window. I have a weakness for secretary or drop down desks and have three at my place (1 on each floor). Thank you for hosting and have a wonderful week!

  21. Hi Bernideen,
I am sorry I didn't link up to your Friday Tea in the Garden. I have just been so busy and finding time to go on the computer is such a challenge now. I do hope to contribute to the special Friday garden party this week. I love your bedroom decor and the table from your hubby's mother is so lovely. The oval picture from Gina's shop is beautiful. I have some Victorian pictures too - so my taste. Your new home looks complete inside and out. What will you do now? Maybe you can relax and have a cup of tea. Lol. Thank you for hosting B.T.T.C.G. See you Friday! Blessings, Karen

  22. Your bedroom is beautiful, Bernideen. I love all personal touches. Those blue chairs are lovely; how wonderful to be able to sit there and look upon the garden and perhaps enjoy a cup of tea in one of your gorgeous tea cups. The cushions you stitched look perfect on the bed and the shutter looks fabulous.

  29. Oh your home is looking just so perfect! How fun to move and have everything as you wish for your retirement years. You are blessed to be able to do that. I linked up to you on my blog but was so tired, I forgot to post my picture on your blog! Gosh...too much heat and babysitting and caregiving. I am thankful for some cooler weather here in Oregon.

  30. You are settling into your new home very nicely. I think the view from your bedroom window makes up for its modest size. Although, it can't be too small as there is room for a setting area. Your shutter adds dimension and interest to the room. Kindest regards, Jill

  31. Beautiful, relaxing space. The shutters look great as a focal point above your bed, and the view out the windows looking down on your garden is an added treat. Don't know when you started this party. I've obviously been out of touch. I will remember it and link next week. ;-)
