A TEA CELEBRATING GEORGE AND MARTHA for "Tea In The Garden"

Sorry to get started late today
but life has been summertime
busy as it is for you too I imagine!

My tea in the garden today
honors our first President
George Washington
 and his wife Martha.

I love this old Homer and
 Laughlin transferware.

Yesterday I baked a lemon pie and
doubled the recipe and crust so I had
enough for a deep dish pie and
 24 little tarts:

The tarts seemed perfect
for tea so please help yourself:

Our Canadian friends celebrated on Sunday
and now here we are celebrating on the 4th:

  1. Happy 4th of July, Bernideen! You have a splendid garden and your bouquet is gorgeous! Oh my, those lemon tarts look so good. It is very hot today here in Charlottetown so a cool lemon tart would be lovely. I love your red Homer and Laughlin transferware and it is perfect for your holiday! Your tea time is a wonderful setting and anyone of us would love to join you. Thank you for hosting.

  2. This is a beautiful tea, Bernideen! As always, your bouquet is gorgeous! The tarts look delicious too. A few years ago you shared a lemon tart recipe. I have made it a couple of times and it's really good.

  3. I'm just swooning over your George and Martha tea today, Bernideen! How I love your tea set!! I also loved seeing your little lady that's by your pie and tarts. Those Susan Paley designs always make me smile. I don't mind if I do have a little tart before I leave your beautiful tea in the garden. Are those cone flowers that you've shown? I really must plant those in my garden, because I love them and the array of colors that they come in. Thanks for hosting and Happy 4th to you!

  9. Happy 4th! Lemon Meringue is a 4th of July family memory for our family...my Aunt Ruth, whom I am named after, always made it for family gatherings. That looks perfect! Lovely historic tribute for the 4th. And your garden looks just wonderful! Have a summery week!
