People have told me for years how there are many hummingbirds here along the front range of the Rocky Mountains. I just never had them in my yard. Well, actually, last summer I saw one on Mother's Day and then never again..... until this summer!
It took me a while to understand that
underneath the huge Colorado Blue
Spruce, they can't see the feeder from
up above so this was my problem.
I have a couple of pairs coming and going to the flowers and the feeder (two different sizes of birds) and it is so fun to watch them about the garden.
The sun is very intense this morning.
Last Sunday afternoon I found my first Shelley English teacup and saucer at an indoor flea market in Longmont, Colorado. The pattern is called "Maytime". I thought it was a bargain at $10.00 because Shelley tea cup and saucer sets sell for $50.00 - $60.00 at the antique malls and I saw this one on ebay for $99.99. Oh my!

I also found this sweet topper that I loved with 4 napkins. I can't decide if it is dogwood or cherry blossoms or ? What's your vote?
We have had more rain lately than in a very long time and we feel very blessed as this will help our drought situation. I am thankful.

What an enchanting garden! You are so fortunate to have such a lovely everyday getaway. And the hummingbird photo is spellbinding. It's so hard to catch the little guys in a photo. They're so quick!
ReplyDeleteI find myself always trying to figure out what some embroidered flowers are and just call them Fantasy Flowers hehe! But I think you made a great guess with Dogwood, or wait ... they might be Cherry Blossoms :) I love the entire set. We enjoy watching the Hummingbirds too, they really are quite amazing ~ Judi

A SHELLEY TEACUP FOR JUST $10? Oh, whyyyyy couldn't it have been me? Oh well, congrats to you for the score of the year -- it is beautiful! And I just wanted to add that I think the hummingbirds finally got wind of who had the prettiest garden around, so that is why you're seeing them now!

ReplyDeleteI always love seeing pictures of your yard,Bernideen(LOVE the birdfeeder hanging on the paneled glass door!!!). From the gorgeous flowers you have growing everywher, to the adorable tea settings you display, you make everything look so inviting and nostalgic! We also have a hummingbird feeder (right by our lakeview picture window). Our little fluttering friends are always curious and trying to look at us in the window. Gladly, they've never gotten hurt by trying to fly through the glass! :/

Your garden looks so wonderful in the height of summer when a lot of gardens are getting over the blooms. Must have been that rain. :) The Shelly cup is lovely and certainly was a bargain! Well done! There is the most beautiful set with pot, creamer, sugar, three cups and some desert plates at the antique mall where I live in Canada. It may be as beautiful as anything but the $700+ price tag is completely outrageous! Oh Shelly cups, why are you so expensive and so beautiful?

Bernideen, I love watching hummingbirds. I have not even filled my feeder this year, but still have been happy to have them visit. The other day I was trimming some of the spent blooms off of my Butterfly bushes. They are small so it's easy to do. One flew up and starred me in the face. It was a pleasant surprise. I love the cloth and napkins. I'm thinking Dogwood just because of the little brown spot on each petal. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
