People have told me for years how there are many hummingbirds here along the front range of the Rocky Mountains. I just never had them in my yard. Well, actually, last summer I saw one on Mother's Day and then never again..... until this summer!
It took me a while to understand that
underneath the huge Colorado Blue
Spruce, they can't see the feeder from
up above so this was my problem.
I have a couple of pairs coming and going to the flowers and the feeder (two different sizes of birds) and it is so fun to watch them about the garden.
Last Sunday afternoon I found my first Shelley English teacup and saucer at an indoor flea market in Longmont, Colorado. The pattern is called "Maytime". I thought it was a bargain at $10.00 because Shelley tea cup and saucer sets sell for $50.00 - $60.00 at the antique malls and I saw this one on ebay for $99.99. Oh my!
WELCOME TO TEA IN THE GARDEN!
Come on in the garden and pour yourself a cup of tea please! I hope you can relax for a few moments before your day begins.
I also found this sweet topper that I loved with 4 napkins. I can't decide if it is dogwood or cherry blossoms or ? What's your vote?
We have had more rain lately than in a very long time and we feel very blessed as this will help our drought situation. I am thankful.
I loved this visit to your beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteSigh.....I so needed your lovely garden tea break today. I have been working my tail off and have had no time for lunch or tea or anything soothing and lovely - you just totally made my day.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for featuring my sweet little niece, boy oh boy I can't wait to hear her happy squeals of delight when I show her this.
Her momma's pc just broke, hopefully she can see it through her momma's iphone - if not, well, she'll be back!
You made me so happy, thank you so much.
Huge hugs,
Michele
Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so pretty! Wow, what a great deal on the Shelley tea cup and saucer set. I love your table cloth with its pretty flowers, too. But I don't know what they're called either. ~Michelle
What an enchanting garden! You are so fortunate to have such a lovely everyday getaway. And the hummingbird photo is spellbinding. It's so hard to catch the little guys in a photo. They're so quick!
ReplyDeleteI find myself always trying to figure out what some embroidered flowers are and just call them Fantasy Flowers hehe! But I think you made a great guess with Dogwood, or wait ... they might be Cherry Blossoms :) I love the entire set. We enjoy watching the Hummingbirds too, they really are quite amazing ~ Judi
ReplyDeleteThose teacups are all kind of beautiful! I think the hummingbirds should drink from it rather than feeders!
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your garden tea's, Bernideen. Tea today is so beautiful. I love the play of the sunshine on your garden. What a lovely tea setting and your new teacup is perfect for summer tea's. Not sure what the design on your tea cloth is. We do not have dogwoods here and it sure looks like cherry blossoms to me! I'm glad you finally can enjoy hummingbirds, they are so fascinating to watch. Thank you for hosting your party and gave a great week!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,..Nancy
A SHELLEY TEACUP FOR JUST $10? Oh, whyyyyy couldn't it have been me? Oh well, congrats to you for the score of the year -- it is beautiful! And I just wanted to add that I think the hummingbirds finally got wind of who had the prettiest garden around, so that is why you're seeing them now!
ReplyDeleteOh Bernideen, what pretty pics of the hummingbirds in your garden. I'm especially in love with the shabby chic door...wonderful! Your tea is so pretty with your new Shelley teacup and lovely linens. I vote that the flowers are dogwood, but whatever they are... such a pretty pattern. Thank you for hosting, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the feature Bernideen! We've been away last week, so no tea parties this week :-) Your tea cup is gorgeous and a wonderful bargain.

How precious are those hummingbirds. Such a blessing to have them visit your garden. And what a great find was that Shelley Tea Cup. But the table topper is my favorite. What a stunning and delicate piece. Thanks so much for hosting each week Bernideen.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Janet
Thanks so much Janet - I sure do enjoy your blog!
DeleteThe teacup and topper are just beautiful. I thought dogwood when I saw the topper. Love your door to the garden too. Lucky you to have hummingbirds this year. I just love when they visit the garden.
ReplyDeleteHello Bernideen... your tea today is lovely... and your teacup and saucer... oooh... that is definitely "Cherry Blossom" from around the 1930's and you got such a fabulous price on it!!!... love seeing your Hummingbirds too... we have four feeders going at all times... I am always so sad when they leave in September to fly south for the winter... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI love your lastest teacup. What a great deal! Your tea time looks so very inviting. Thank you for the lovely visit! Have a wonderful week! Take care,
Karen
This is evening but it was still nice to have a visit in your lovely garden! You find the prettiest table toppers and that one matches your beautiful pillows! Nancy
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing pictures of your yard,Bernideen(LOVE the birdfeeder hanging on the paneled glass door!!!). From the gorgeous flowers you have growing everywher, to the adorable tea settings you display, you make everything look so inviting and nostalgic! We also have a hummingbird feeder (right by our lakeview picture window). Our little fluttering friends are always curious and trying to look at us in the window. Gladly, they've never gotten hurt by trying to fly through the glass! :/
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for featuring my tea post on your blog today!

Your garden looks so wonderful in the height of summer when a lot of gardens are getting over the blooms. Must have been that rain. :) The Shelly cup is lovely and certainly was a bargain! Well done! There is the most beautiful set with pot, creamer, sugar, three cups and some desert plates at the antique mall where I live in Canada. It may be as beautiful as anything but the $700+ price tag is completely outrageous! Oh Shelly cups, why are you so expensive and so beautiful?
ReplyDeleteOMG I just love your garden and hummers. "I am new to your site and I will be your new follower. I am pretty sure that your lovely table topper and napkins are dogwood flowers. What a terrific find on your tea cup and saucer.
ReplyDeleteStop by my blog and meet my hummers.
Mary
So happy to have you visit. I do love my Beatrix Potter Cottage Garden! I enjoyed visiting your site too!
DeleteThanks for the stroll around your beautiful and very romantic garden! It's been a real treat!
ReplyDeleteLovely to have you visit!
DeleteOh my! I don't think I'd ever be able to leave such a perfect garden. Every single detail is absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by the table, Bernideen. It's a pleasure to meet you. If you still have the link party open tomorrow, I have a tea post that is scheduled for first thing in the morning. I'll stop by and try to link then.
Following and looking forward to visiting.
Much love!
So glad to have you visit. Every Tuesday I post Tea In The Garden and would love to see you link!
DeleteBernideen, your garden is a dream come true. Do you ever go inside? It's a perfect setting for a garden tea party for large and small groups. Love how you were able to capture the hummingbird on camera (quite a difficult task). So glad I found your wonderful blog, I look forward to following you and your fun get-togethers.
ReplyDeleteTrina:
DeleteI actually don't get to be there much because I have a shop but I do love the views from my house!
Thank you for hosting, Bernideen. I'm off to grab my morning cup and visit with your lovely guests.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful weekend.
xoxo
Bernideen, I love watching hummingbirds. I have not even filled my feeder this year, but still have been happy to have them visit. The other day I was trimming some of the spent blooms off of my Butterfly bushes. They are small so it's easy to do. One flew up and starred me in the face. It was a pleasant surprise. I love the cloth and napkins. I'm thinking Dogwood just because of the little brown spot on each petal. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
so pretty, love your wonderful cottage garden! I don't have near as many hummers this year as i did last year, but it's been wetter and cooler, so I think they may have more natural food sources. thanks so much for joining in!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a marvelous post - your garden is looking gorgeous! I think all our humming birds moved west to you! Love the rustic door and birdhouse! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
