On this last Tuesday of August there is a change in the air!
Fall is coming....time for some Tea In The Garden.
I've invited a few friends over - hope you don't mind company! I don't see any hummingbirds this morning. I think they have begun their long journey to Mexico for the winter.
Pour yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a
few moments of solitude here in the garden!
I thought we could sit here and catch up on
a stack of magazines that I am behind reading.
Johanna will remember the pillow cover my
Mother In Law gave me. My Mother In Law had it from her German parents. She said that the English translation is:
"Save each other from heartache- the time you have together is short.
Even if you are united by many years - one day they will seem like minutes to you."

Hi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI'm the first to link up today! Your garden tea is a lovely retreat as always and your china is simply beautiful. That little squirrel is adorable and he knows he's welcome in your garden. Thank you for sharing at Tea Time.
Blessings,
Sandi
Summer seems to be winding down here too, and tea in the garden, reading my stack of unread magazines sounds lovely ! Soon, maybe I can indulge this treat.
ReplyDeleteYour tea of solitude seems a perfect retreat, and looks so pretty. I hope you got that stack of magazines read and feel rested too.
Nice blog, good to see him. A pleasure to have found these ways of life that lead us to find new friends to share.
ReplyDeleteA kiss and a hug from Argentina. I follow you on your beautiful site.
My main blog is lujanfraix.blogspot.com I wait
I've felt a change in the air, too. Lovely images for your tea in the garden!
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful garden setting is so peaceful with all the flowers, tree and garden benches! So glad you placed this lovely china on your tea table. The Spode coffee pot and creamer and sugar bowl are a very pretty shape and pattern. I do not recall this pattern, would you be kind enough to identify it for me! The German pillow cover is a true family heirloom and I know you treasure it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeletePam
Hi Pam:
DeleteI found that in an antique shop a few weeks back. It is Spode Duberry. The place had an entire set of Spode Rose Chintz for like $2000.00 which was lovely as well.
Your outdoor tea is just gorgeous, Bernideen!
ReplyDeleteYour china is stunning, as well as your garden, bouquet, tablescape - even your choice of magazine reads!
Still quite warm here, so no Autumn hints just yet!
Sitting in your garden with a cup of tea must be heavenly! Your tea table is set so pretty with your lovely teapots and teacups. We have been having very warm days so the changes with autumn have not came here yet. Although with our climate next week could hold lower than usual temps! I guess the squirrels know what is coming though! Thank you for hosting and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHugs..Nancy
Bernideen, I am so ready to sit and drink tea while looking through magazines. I had to link and now come back later to comment. It's been a whirlwind ride through August for me and here it is coming to an end already.
ReplyDeleteLeaves are beginning to turn in our corner of Ontario and I can smell it in the air early mornings when I walk the dog. that change is coming.
I like the garden bouquet you made and the china for tea today is pretty as always.
Judith
Judith: I still haven't read the magazines - except the Victoria. This week has been crazy. The icemaker broke at our store and we have wasted tons of time trying to fix it. My husband lost his cell phone this morning but went back home and found he had put it in the dresser drawer - has no idea why it was there. It was a crazy day!

DeleteHi Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI just love your teacups, coffee pot, cream and sugar and teapot. So beautiful. I will be sad when Tea in the Garden is over. I have planned a Needlepoint Tea but all of my china at home has been in boxes for nearly two months due to our flood and I am disappointed if I can't do it before Fall comes. Thank you for hosting today. Have a wonderful week. Take care,
Karen
Sometime in the weeks ahead I will switch back to "Friends Sharing Tea" which means it is probably when it is too cold to be outside!! Right now it is still lovely outside....
DeleteI love that square cup. I have never seen one like it. It is stunning. Wow, thank you for sharing it today. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteDear Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteI loved your tea time with the white bench, the beautiful flowers and china and your little squirrel guest. I admire the pretty bench cover with the very sweet German poem. Do you know the meaning? It says: "Bewahret einander vor Herzeleid, denn kurz ist die Zeit die ihr beisammen seid. Denn wenn euch auch viele Jahre vereinen, einst werden sie wie Minuten euch scheinen." which means "Save each other from heartache, the time you are together is short. Even if you are united by many years, one day they will seem like minutes you." So true.
Best greetings, Johanna
Johanna:
DeleteThank you so much. I was going to ask you again but didn't want to bother you as you are so busy. I think before my picture was so big it was hard to see too. Thank you for your kindness!
Your garden is beautiful, Bernideen. I adore the church birdhouse. Your tea set is feminine and lovely. Another gorgeous tea in the garden, Bernideen!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tea. A perfect place to read magazines and I do love magazines! Your crocheted doily on the table is so beautiful. Also the saying on the pillow case! Yes, sure does feel like fall! Nancy
ReplyDeleteFunny, it seems like only yesterday you were *beginning* the Tea in the Garden series for this year!
ReplyDeleteDear Bernideen,
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh~ I couldn't pick a favorite. What beautiful cups and teapots!!!!
The cloth from your mother in law is so precious and such a treasure. The quote is one I will write down, save and share.
I always love your Queen Anne's Lace. I love that so.
Thank you, Ruthie from: http://www.ladybstimefortea.blogspot.com
Beautiful tea Bernideen! Yes, summer has flown by. Hard to believe that before we know it the snow will fly. I had a hummingbird sit upon a branch on my front porch for the longest time. Never have I seen one hold still for that long! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
