PROGRESS ON THE POND for "Tea In The Garden"

On Friday June 24th, a crew arrived to clean our koi pond.  As it turns out, we have no koi - we have gold fish.   We are perfectly alright with that!  The men removed  all the fish, green algae water, the monster overgrown lily and  made a waterfall at one edge so we are talking an all day project.  On Monday of this week - the fish were put back in the pond and the final touches made.

I set up a little tea outside this morning and also I wanted to
share this sweet quilt I found recently in the tiny town
of Odessa, Missouri at the Silver Fox Antique Mall.

The day we were there the tea room was closed so we hope
to get to go back another time to visit!

After I took these photos we went back to the
"rock place" and got a few more stones and
replaced the wood piece on top of the waterfall
with several pieces of stone.  As you
can see I have a new frog birdbath and
"thinking man frog" over to the left who I
like to imagine is pondering about "Jeremy
Fisher's outfit.   There is also a new
snail and a turtle in the back right.

I ordered these new Campania pieces weeks ago
to add to the ones we brought here in March from Colorado.

It seems that everything we do is taking t i m e and involves a wait!  For example, we have no sofas in our living room - and won't get them until the end of August.  We have 2 folding chairs set up there.

The plant you see below is called "water lettuce".  So far the
bunnies haven't eaten it as they are taking a toll on things
in the garden lately - especially the cone flowers, monarda,
some wild flowers, clematis and the list goes on.

Miss Tabitha has joined the other Beatrix Potter style figurines
 in the back yard.
She is happy to rejoin Peter Rabbit:

Jemima Puddleduck:

I also have a new owl on the wood chair bird feeder:

Today is my "Tea In The Garden" blog party
so I hope you tea bloggers will join in!
In the mean time - do have a cup of tea.

I knew what I meant when I told you it would be getting very
hot here in Missouri and I worked soooooo hard to get my projects done before that happened!  It was in the high 90's this week and now has cooled down in the high 80's and we
 are almost cold sometimes!

A special thanks to all you teatime bloggers who can
participate in this party!
I will be joining my other blogging friends:

  3. Hi Bernideen, Your pond is really beautiful! I love it. Glad you got it cleaned out and added the waterfall. As far as the rabbits (and deer for us), we use various products such as "Liquid Fence," "Deer Fence," and "Repels All." There are many of these products, some made with onions, garlic, blood meal for "smell" and others made with capsaicin (hot pepper) for bad taste. This has given us some success in keeping the deer from eating our plants. Some of these products are even safe for use in vegetables. Another idea: get a backyard cat! Good luck, Bernideen, and I LOVE your home and garden.
    Hugs, Beth

  7. Linking up to my first Tea in the Garden! Yay! We share the same taste in whimsical decor so I always enjoy seeing your garden decor. The pond looks great! I also really like the teacup with the aqua interior.

When I moved out, I took my parents' sofa set with me. Like you, they set up folding chairs when they had guests over. Five years later and they still haven't replaced the sofa! My mom likes having all the extra space in the living room so she may never buy a new couch. HA!

Thanks for hosting and have a great 4th of July weekend!

  10. Hi Bernideen, the pond looks great! Growing up, I oived in the country and so we had a goldfish pond, the real thing-a mud bottom pond with a grass bank, it was pretty big and our goldfish got pretty big and they were not koi. I think the fish grow depending on the size of the pond. So I think yours will grow more, koi or not.
I love all of your Beatrix Potter inspired statuary, it's all so much fun! You have such a talent for putting everything together to make a most wonderful backyard oasis!
    Talk to you soon,
    Gina

  11. Normally I would link with you on Tuesday because that is when I post tea things, but since I had something that would work this week I am linking now. The chair with the new quilt would go so well with several pieces I have. I love it. Oh ponds always remind me of a time long ago when there was a pond with giant gold fish in my yard. How I loved it. Each year when we cleaned it I was climb in the pond and catch the fish with my hands and put them in a tub until the pond was scrubs and refilled. A fun memory. Love you new bird bath with the cat too. I had to laugh at the owl sitting on the chair by the bird house. He might scare the birds away.

  14. Bernideen, You have a very nice-sized pond and the waterfall adds to its relaxing properties. I am sure all the critters are enjoying it now that it's all settled. Love the sweet vintage dress quilt. Same colors are your floral arrangement. I think I spot a RS Prussia creamer and maybe the plate also? Have a safe and happy 4th of July. JIll
