SHELTER GARDENS IN COLUMBIA, MISSOURI for BTTCG Blog Party

As most of you know, back in March we moved
 to Missouri.
Yesterday, I took a few photos here
 at Shelter Gardens
in our new town
of Columbia.

A large insurance company here owns these gardens:

There were numerous ponds and this one had large fish - koi?

My favorite thing was the many lovely statues:

And the biggest fish in the pond:

The statues were classic in style and quite unique:

Columbia is home to the University of Missouri, Columbia College and Stephens College so there is a very young (can I use this word?) vibe!

I will be sharing this post at these parties:
No Place Like Home
The Art of Homemaking Mondays
Let's Talk Vintage

I hope you can join in my blog party today!

  3. What a beautiful garden! I love fish/koi ponds and statuary so this would have been a treat. Vibe is a good word to use. :-) My family keeps me on my toes when it comes to using words. And it's 'cool' to be hip like them. They rather like it. Hubby and I led a Young Adult group for a while so we learned all the lingo. Thanks for sharing and linking and enjoy your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. Dear Bernideen,
what a lovely garden you share. Theese big fish are often very hand-tame and very intelligent. Love to see the wonderful statues. They would fit very fine in your garden, too. :-))
Thank you for sharing this charming post and for hosting this sweet event.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  9. Beautiful gardens, Bernideen. Yes, those are koi. When we went to Biltmore in May, the koi were very friendly. They would swim right up when persons were standing outside the pond! (Has something to do with people feeding them, no doubt!) My goldfish in my own pond, on the other hand, are not at all friendly. They hide in the plants and rocks a lot but I do see them, especially at feeding time. Enjoy your day!

  26. Hi Bernideen! Shelter Gardens is one of my favorite places here in town. When the kids were young we lived 2 blocks away and we walked there all the time, played tag there, hide and seek, played school-took our own chalk for the chalk board,picnics...very sweet memories were made there, and lots of photos. Thanks for sharing it with us. I need to visit there again!
